I've been working on a concept for a WHILE now and I finally have a campaign to play it in. We start at 16th level, so it's much higher than the build I currently have, I have it planned, just not fine tuned.

here's the sheet

Tiefling Spellthief Character Sheet

The current build is Spellthief 1/ Sorc 4/ Unseen Seer 2/ Spellwarp Sniper 5/ Arcane Trickster 8 up to level 20, it would be AT 4 for this build.

The WHOLE concept is that he's a spy type. High Cha and such. A REAL charmer. He CAN blast his way out of a situation, but he'd rather talk his way out so he can stab them in the back when they're not looking. He's not really an "in your face" fighter, but he can really do some damage at range and from the shadows.

Think of James Bond, Pierce Brosnan type of Bond, not the new one that's a glorified action hero blow it up type.

I'm also working on the spell list, so if you have any suggestions, let me know. .........................

Answers to your Questions

Yes, I did make both the Signature and Animated Avatar...
No...the signature actually started as Manga Scans, just touched up...
Yes, I will make more of these...
Maybe, I only do requests if you supply the stock images and they interest me...
Otherwise...no...

I assume magic is taking the place of the various gadgets in this case. I guess though, if you are going for the laid-back idea, hand-off combat idea, first why Spellwarp Sniper? I can't think of a whole lot of spells you would benefit from turning into rays, and the class strikes me as, thematically at least, much more Special Ops Sniper, and much less James Bond.

Also I would have to ask what purpose the Spellthief level is playing. Unless you take the feat from Complete Scoundrel (which admittedly you COULD do). Thematically it could make sense, but it would make just as much sense to take a level of rogue instead, and probably with a better result mechanically speaking. .........................

lol...you should really look at the sheet then, you'd see that I did take that feat, and the reasoning behind it is that I conserve a caster level with it, which can be VERY important

Fireball and Lightning Bolts that don't allow reflex saves are...kinda awesome, that's the reasoning behind SWS...not to mention some other nastiness like Free Empower on a spell once a day...NOT to mention you get extra "sneak attack" damage with rays...SWS is pretty sick, I think you're just looking at the wrong class features

you're taking the name of the class too literally, look at what it can do and not what it's named .........................

lol...it's my highlight creation at the moment

if I could find a way to increase the level of spells know/prevent myself from losing spell levels, I'd add the Advanced Template to buff his DCs and such as well, but I tend to reserve that for Melee classes that aren't as hurt by the template. .........................

Yes, if you are looking at it in terms of mechanical effects, and how pretty they are. I'm just saying, if you are going for a James Bond style character, that class isn't getting you any closer to it. (Now if you were going a more Solid Snake with magic type character, that would be understandable.)

I was looking at it in terms of what it can do. I just don't happen to see how the class features get you any closer to your thematic objective. I mean all things being said, you have a pretty awesome build herein general, and if you aren't caring so much about this thematic aspect, then by all means ignore my analysis here, since it will not likely be relevant. But if not, well... .........................

I'm looking at both really. I mean, rather than the Golden Gun, I'm using...well...my finger

The whole point behind Sorc instead of Wizard is the high Cha, as opposed to Int. Bond is much more suave than the is smart. I do appreciate the opinion though. I always like to hear others words, even if they differ from my own, otherwise I'd be as narrowminded as half the rest of the world. .........................

I suppose, and damage wise it's probably the closest thing you are going to get to the functional equivalent of a firearm. (In terms of lethality to your level CR opponents anyways)

I understand why sorcerer is there, it was just spellthief that was stumping me. (In part also I suppose, because I don't really see how stealing the arcane energy from people's minds thematically goes along with what you were describing) But fair enough. (And while he is suave, Bond does tend to be exceptionally intelligent as well. Of course though, that is accurately reflected in your stats, so...good job there too I suppose)

I like it, I'm playing something similar at the minute. Just a nitpick, your sneak attack damage should be 6x(d6+2)+16 because of your Sniper's Goggles. I'd be turning your debuff spells into rays as well to cripple the enemy AND deal them (negative energy) damage from your sneak attack...and steal their spells...

Someone else made a similar suggestion on a different forum...it had honestly never occurred to me that I could do that...makes him particularly deadly, even when doing something that ISN'T blasting...foul things are foul .........................
